Keeping feeds healthy

The internet is complex. Sometimes feeds are briefly unavailable (100% uptime is hard/impossible), sometimes they move, and sometimes they don’t like the Feedgrab crawler bot, however considerate it may be.

From today, Feedgrab tries harder to keep your feeds alive.

Rather than failing immediately, Feedgrab will now keep trying an unavailable feed for up to a month, and only then will throw in the towel. It will also track redirects and make sure the URL is up to date.

There’s still work to do – some sites really don’t like the Feedbot, but we know how to improve that in time.

You might not have noticed anything was missing, but hopefully this change will result in more articles hitting your feed 😊
